Traxo

Team: WAAMCo
Client: Traxo

Project Goal:
Update and refresh the Traxo customer experience with a strong emphasis on illustration and iconography. Traxo is a travel app for web and mobile that effortlessly organizes travel plans and account information at no cost. The redesign aims to make travel information clearer, more engaging, and easier to act on for both consumers and business users.

Design & Visual Approach The theme “The New Golden Era of Travel” served as the creative foundation. Drawing inspiration from vintage Pan Am advertising and mid‑century travel aesthetics, we balanced nostalgia with a forward‑looking sensibility. The visual system uses streamlined, optimistic shapes, a warm yet refined color palette, and a typographic hierarchy that supports quick scanning and clarity.

Illustration & Iconography

  • Custom illustration language that humanizes the experience: stylized travelers, simplified destinations, and aspirational scenes that evoke discovery without cluttering interfaces. Illustrations scale from hero images to compact contextual art.

  • A cohesive icon set built for legibility at small sizes and personality at larger sizes. Icons combine geometric simplicity with subtle mid‑century details to reinforce brand voice across web and mobile.

  • Motion cues and microinteractions that animate illustrations and icons to communicate states (loading, synced, updated) and guide attention without distracting from tasks.

Consumer & Business Success

  • For consumers: the refreshed CX reduces friction in trip management, making it faster to find key details and take action (check in, view boarding passes, share plans). Improved clarity and delightful visual cues increase trust and perceived value, driving higher retention and more frequent app usage.

  • For business customers and partners: the visual system provides a polished, consistent presentation of travel data that enhances brand perception when integrated into partner workflows or white‑label implementations. Clearer, more prominent data points reduce support inquiries and accelerate decision‑making for travel managers and corporate stakeholders.

  • Measurable outcomes targeted: increased DAU/MAU for consumer accounts, reduced time‑to‑task for itinerary retrieval, lower support ticket volume related to trip details, and improved conversion/engagement metrics in partner integrations.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive illustration library with variations for hero, contextual, and thumbnail use.

  • Pixel‑perfect icon set with export-ready assets for web and native platforms.

  • UI component library (cards, lists, alerts) implemented for responsive web and mobile.

  • Motion guidelines for microinteractions and state transitions.

  • Brand guidelines documenting usage, tone, and accessibility considerations.

Result:

A cohesive, modernized Traxo experience that channels the optimism of a golden travel era while delivering practical value: clearer organization, faster task completion, and a visual identity that supports both consumer delight and business outcomes.

Inspiration behind the theme: New Golden Era of Travel

Our initial mood boards merging modern and classic nostalgic visuals associated with flight and travel

Our mood boards mix modern clean design with vintage aviation nostalgia. They pair muted palettes and minimalist type with sepia photos, retro travel posters, leather, and brass. The look feels forward-moving yet sentimental: sleek, aspirational images beside tactile, story-rich objects. Themes: horizon-focused layouts, layered textures, and a balanced blend of optimism and heritage to guide the brand’s visual identity.

Color and key iconography elements

The Traxo brand has several key colors as well as various shades to create depth in certain UI and illustrative components.

Illustration within UI examples

Users will be able to add flight miles, hotel stays, first-class upgrades, and additional services directly within the app.

Secondary illustration style:

To provide practical guidance on using the app and integrating with other travel services, our team adopted a visual approach inspired by in‑flight safety brochure illustrations. This direction delivers clear, universally readable visuals that complement concise instructions and improve user comprehension across diverse traveler profiles.
